DWELL – WEEK 4
DRESSED TO DWELL – PART 2
OCTOBER 26, 2025
PSALM 42:1-2 – As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. 2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?
EXODUS 28:1-5 – “Then bring near to you Aaron your brother, and his sons with him, from among the people of Israel, to serve me as priests – Aaron and Aaron’s sons, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar. 2 And you shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother, for glory and for beauty. 3 You shall speak to all the skillful, whom I have filled with a spirit of skill, that they make Aaron’s garments to consecrate him for my priesthood. 4 These are the garments that they shall make: a breastpiece, an ephod, a robe, a coat of checker work, a turban, and a sash. They shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother and his sons to serve me as priests. 5 They shall receive gold, blue and purple and scarlet yarns, and fine twined linen.
The Priest’s Garments Reveal Him as a…
- Man of Heaven
The colors on Aaron’s robe were a preview; the incarnation of Jesus is the reality.
- Representative of His People
- Onyx stones
- Breastpiece
- Bells
- Bearer of God’s Verdict
EXODUS 28:30 – And in the breastpiece of judgment you shall put the Urim and the Thummim, and they shall be on Aaron’s heart, when he goes in before the LORD. Thus Aaron shall bear the judgment of the people of Israel on his heart before the LORD regularly.
LEVITICUS 8:8 – And he placed the breastpiece on him, and in the breastpiece he put the Urim and the Thummim.
NUMBERS 27:21 – And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before the LORD.
1 SAMUEL 28:6 – And when Saul inquired of the LORD, the LORD did not answer him, either by dreams, or by Urim, or by prophets.
- Marked as “Holy to the Lord”
EXODUS 28:36-38 – You shall make a plate of pure gold and engrave on it, like the engraving of a signet, ‘Holy to the LORD.’ 37 And you shall fasten it on the turban by a cord of blue. It shall be on the front of the turban. 38 It shall be on Aaron’s forehead, and Aaron shall bear any guilt from the holy things that the people of Israel consecrate as their holy gifts. It shall regularly be on his forehead, that they may be accepted before the LORD.
HEBREWS 7:26-28 – For it was indeed fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, innocent, unstained, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. 27 He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, first for his own sins and then for those of the people, since he did this once for all when he offered up himself. 28 For the law appoints men in their weakness as high priests, but the word of the oath, which came later than the law, appoints a Son who has been made perfect forever.
1 PETER 2:9 – But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
GALATIANS 3:25-27 – But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, 26 for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
