SOLAS – WEEK 5
SOLUS CHRISTUS (in Christ Alone)
NOVEMBER 10, 2024
JOHN 14:1-6 – Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. 4 And you know the way to where I am going.” 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
The five solas:
Sola Scriptura (Scripture Alone)
Sola Fide (Faith Alone)
Sola Gratia (Grace Alone)
Solus Christus (Christ Alone)
Soli Deo Gloria (To the Glory of God Alone)
1 TIMOTHY 4:16 – Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers.

JOHN 14:6 – Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”

II. The Sufficiency of Christ: “There Is No Other Name”
ACTS 4:12 – And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
III. Jesus as the Only Mediator: “There Is One Mediator Between God and Mankind”
1 TIMOTHY 2:5-6 – For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all.
μεσίτης (mesitēs) – Someone who stands between two parties to reconcile or restore a broken relationship.
IV. Living in the Sufficiency of Christ
HEBREWS 4:14-16 – Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
